Thanksgiving is right around the corner so let's paint some turkeys and learn some science. In this blog we will teach you how you can make paint fizzy to leave your child full of smiles and amazement!
012: Fizz Paint Turkey Art!
We all know what happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar but rather than make a volcano, let's make some art!
What you need:
-Baking Soda
-Vinegar
-Water
-Food Coloring
-Cups
-Water Dropper
-Brushes
-Watercolor Paper (or similar)
Instructions:
-Measure out 1-3 tablespoons of baking soda into various cups and drop some food coloring in each.
-Measure out an equal amount of water.
-Pour the into the baking soda cups and mix gently, the mixture shouldn't be too thick or watery.
-Have your child draw out their turkey outline as shown.
-Paint the turkey using the baking soda paints.
-Once dried use the dropper filled with vinegar and watch the painting fizz!
What they learn:
-Chemical reactions!
-Baking soda is a base and vinegar is an acid. Combine the two and they make carbon dioxide, which is a gas. Hear the sound of the fizz, see the bubbles, and even feel the fizz (hold your hand close without touching)
When the project is complete:
-Take a photo of the structure and share it with us! Tag us on social media and use hashtag #theRchild, we can't wait to see the results.
