At Home STEAM Project: 002

Oh marble runs, what a fun activity for young and old alike. There is so much to learn in building your own marble run and so much patience to be gained in mastering it. This is a great project that you and your child can work on together, You can even stage a competition around it, you each make one and challenge each other to complete it. The possibilities for fun are endless.


001: LEGO Maze Run

For today's project, have your child build a maze or marble run using LEGO elements.


What you need:

-LEGO elements

-A LEGO plate or box top.

-A marble or something to use as a marble.


Instructions:

-Ask your child to build a maze or a marble run using LEGO elements.

-Encourage their creativity with the project.

-Make a maze in a box top

-Make a marble run using a LEGO plate

-Add multiple levels to it

-Sketch it out first to make a more complicated and functional maze

What they learn:

-Engineering

-Problem solving

-Patience

-Spatial thinking (you need a vision of what it looks like complete as you build)

-Add a math lesson (how many pieces did you use, how fast can you complete it, etc)


When the project is complete:

-Take a photo of the structure and share it with us! Tag us on social media and use hashtag #theRchild, we can't wait to see the results.
